“A well-designed space is like a cathedral...it stirs emotions. When I walked into the CEC two weeks ago, I stopped in my tracks and studied the space...I became emotional. The space makes one feel as if they’re in the very heart of Siemens. It’s going to make our customers feel a real connection to our products and our people.”

In 1980, the Siemens facility in Wendell, NC was constructed. It consisted of over 257,500 SF of office, factory and ancillary spaces. Over the years, it remained largely unchanged. Recently, a comprehensive renovation transformed 22,640 SF of outdated office space into a contemporary, multifunctional environment that now serves as the Siemens Customer Experience Center. This project emphasized sustainable design by integrating recovered materials from Raleigh Reclaim, including wood salvaged directly from the site, reflecting Siemens’ dedication to eco-friendly practices.

The redesign features a blend of premium finishes and creatively repurposed materials from Siemens decommissioned products, resulting in unique displays and design elements. The layout was reimagined to meet current needs, introducing a welcoming entrance, distinctive reception and waiting areas, a conference café with a dedicated serving corridor, high-end restrooms, a cutting-edge tech showroom for the Customer Experience Center, and modernized training rooms.

Externally, the once underutilized and unwelcoming patio has been transformed into a vibrant courtyard, complete with new concrete seating walls, landscaping, trellises, and sustainable, vividly colored furniture, enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and function of the space. These exterior enhancements create an inviting atmosphere for employees and customers alike.

The renovation aims to inspire the Siemens team to return to the office as well as accommodate international visitors and customers from around the world. Its success has spurred additional large-scale renovations in other parts of the building, as well as establishing it as a model for future updates internationally. Completed on August 23, 2024, this project marks a significant milestone in Siemens’ ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability.
